A vehicle wanted in connection with a shoplifting incident at a Clayton convenience store was involved in a crash minutes after the incident.
Around 2:00 am Sunday, a silver pickup truck ran off the 600 block of Corbett Road near Clayton, traveled through the front yard of several homes before overturning, striking a parked car and carport.
Two people were in the overturned truck. They were taken to the hospital.
Clayton Police were investigating a reported theft of wine from the Sheetz store on Highway 42 in Clayton and the vehicle involved in the crash was allegedly involved in the shoplifting.
Police said they were not chasing the vehicle when it crashed. The NC Highway Patrol is investigating the collision. Photos by JoCoFire.com
