Vehicle Strikes Home, Flees The Scene, Involved In Second Crash

PRINCETON – A motorist has been charged with several offenses including driving while impaired following two collisions just minutes apart.  Sunday around 12:30pm, a couple was inside their home on Old Rock Quarry Road near Princeton when a vehicle ran off the roadway and struck a power pole then crashed into their front porch.

The driver quickly backed out of the debris and drove away in the heavily damaged car.  A short distance away, the hit and run driver failed to stop at a stop sign on Highway 70 in Princeton and t-boned a small westbound SUV. The SUV overturned before landing upright.  The SUV driver was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.

The crash caused westbound delays on Highway 70 and on Old Rock Quarry Road as traffic was also detoured around the first crash site.

Johnston County EMS, Princeton Fire, State Highway Patrol, Princeton Police, Johnston County Building Inspections and Duke Energy responded.
