Victim Assaulted With Tire Iron

SMITHFIELD – A 37 year-old Smithfield woman is recovering from serious injuries. The victim told Smithfield Police she was assaulted last Thursday, May 1 around 8:25pm on Blount Street near Midway Street.

The victim reported a female acquaintance struck her in the face with a tire iron during an altercation. The victim and suspect had been involved in an ongoing dispute.

Police are investigating the incident.
