Victim Cut With Razor During Attempted Robbery

A 22 year-old Kenly man said he was cut with a razor during an attempted robbery in Selma on Sunday morning.

The victim said he went to the Redwood Village Apartment complex around 11:00am to visit his cousin. Before he arrived at his cousins apartment on Oriole Court, the victim said he was approached in the parking lot by a man armed with a razor knife.  The suspect demanded his cell phone.

The victim said he refused to hand over his phone. During a brief scuffle he was cut in the arm with the razor. He said he was able to punch his attacker several times before the robbery suspect ran away on foot.

The victim was taken to Johnston Medical Center where he received 4 stitches.

The suspect is still at large. The individual is described as a mixed race or light skin black male, 6 foot 2, 150 pounds, with a slim build, short brown afro-style hair with loose curls, and brown eyes.  He was last seen running behind a building in the apartment complex.   The suspect was wearing a large black short sleeve t-shirt and baggy black shorts.  He was armed with a razor blade knife with a red handle.
