Walters Family Wins 2016 Benson Sing

In the early 1920’s a small group of music lovers gathered in a Benson tobacco warehouse to begin a tradition.

Little did they know, 96 years later, Benson’s annual State Singing Convention would remain — becoming a destination for gospel music fans across North Carolina and the nation.

The three-day convention was held this weekend. On Sunday the Walters Family was named the Grand Champions of the 2016 State Annual Singing Convention. They are pictured with their trophy.
