JOHNSTON COUNTY – A major water main break that occurred Saturday night along US 701 South of Four Oaks near Barefoot’s Country Store has left a significant portion of southern Johnston County without water or experiencing low pressure, according to Johnston County Public Utilities.

The outage is currently affecting customers in the Ingrams, Meadow, and Southeast Lowgrounds Water Districts. Utility crews are on-site working to repair the damaged line, but officials have not yet provided an estimated time for full restoration.

Once water pressure is restored, residents who experienced low or no water pressure will be placed under a Boil Water Advisory for 24 hours. During this time, any tap water intended for human consumption should be vigorously boiled for at least one full minute before use.
