A driver escaped serious injury when he lost control of a 2,000 gallon water tanker on Buffalo Road just south of Highway 42 East this morning (Wednesday).
The truck ran off the right side of Buffalo Road, overcorrected, overturned in the roadway, slid through a fence and finally came to rest against a small tree on the opposite side of the road.
The driver was able to climb out a rear window of the half-filled truck and walk to an ambulance. The tanker was rented from Hertz.
The Thanksgiving Fire Department, Johnston County EMS and NC Highway Patrol responded to the scene. Charges are pending.
