Wayne Co. Man Charged After Political Sign Found Defaced

WAYNE COUNTY — A 55-year-old Wayne County man has been charged after a detective with the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office discovered a defaced political campaign sign during a criminal investigation in the Dudley area.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, the detective observed the altered sign at a residence located on Alder Lane in Dudley. The detective contacted the political candidate associated with the sign, who confirmed that the individual in possession of the sign was not authorized to have or alter it.

As a result of the investigation, Kenny Ray Hood, 55, of Alder Lane, Dudley, was charged with possession of stolen goods and injury to personal property.

Hood was given a $2,000 unsecured bond.

Sheriff Larry Pierce reminded residents that removing, damaging or altering campaign signs is against the law and may result in criminal charges.
