The County of Wayne has contracted with North State Medical Transport and MedEx Medical Transport to provide non-emergency ambulatory transportation for residents in Wayne County beginning today, July 31, 2020 at 6:00 p.m. These non-emergency transport providers will be replacing WayneNet, a non-emergency transport service operated by the county since 2006. The Wayne County Board of Commissioners made the decision to contract these services as a cost-savings measure for the County.
“We would like to thank our WayneNet staff for their dedication in serving the residents of Wayne County,” said County Manager Craig Honeycutt. “This was not a decision we took lightly, but we have full confidence in the contracted non-emergency transport teams we have in place moving forward.”
Staff members from WayneNet were transferred to Wayne County EMS, and others were given the opportunity to work for one of the new contract providers. Wayne County is dedicated to the health and safety of our residents and visitors, and we welcome North State and MedEx as they continue to provide an excellent level of care to those needing service.
