RALEIGH – A Wayne County man was sentenced today to 204 months in prison for possession with intent to distribute 50 grams or more of methamphetamine.
According to court documents, Obrien Devon Kornegay, 38, of Goldsboro was arrested in Duplin County on June 26, 2019, after he delivered four ounces of crystal methamphetamine to a confidential informant. When Kornegay was arrested, he also had two grams of crack cocaine and 2 grams of heroin in his pockets. Further investigation revealed that Kornegay had been involved in dealing kilograms of crystal methamphetamine and cocaine between December 2018 and his arrest in June 2019.
Robert J. Higdon, Jr., U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of North Carolina made the announcement after sentencing by U.S. District Judge James C. Dever III. The Duplin County Sheriff’s Office, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and the Drug Enforcement Administration investigated the case and Assistant U.S. Attorney Laura S. Howard prosecuted the case.
