GOLDSBORO – The N.C. Department of Transportation has awarded a $2.2 million resurfacing contract to spruce up sections of several Wayne County roadways.
Fred Smith Co. of Raleigh won the low bid last week. The contractor will mill and repave four miles of N.C. 55 between the Lenoir County line and N.C. 111. In addition, the contractor will resurface sections of 18 secondary routes totaling almost 17 miles across the county. The refreshed roadways also will be restriped with high-visibility lane markings.
The work will start around May and is under contract to be completed by October 2022.
