Following several leads, the Wake County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a man who allegedly fired shots at another motorist this morning (Tuesday).
Deputies have charged 38-year-old John Davis of Spring Hope with one count of misdemeanor assault with a deadly weapon and one felony count of discharging a weapon into a dwelling for occupied vehicle.
Shortly after 8:30 this morning, deputies responded to report of a road rage incident in the area of Highways 401 and 96.
According to witnesses and the victim, identified as Brandon Jones, of Wake Forest, Davis and Jones were travelling down Highway 401, when the victim merged in front of the suspect’s vehicle.
Witnesses say that both the suspect and victim exchanged words briefly at the stoplight. When the victim proceeded down the road, he heard two gunshots. Witnesses say the suspect fired one shot into the payment and one towards the victim’s vehicle. No one was injured in the incident.
Through investigative means, deputies were able to contact the suspect by phone, requesting that he return to the scene. Before returning to the scene, the suspect allegedly dumped the gun, along with ammo, in a drain, which deputies later recovered.
