West Johnston High Names New Head Football Coach

West Johnston High named Robert Senseney as the new head football coach as the program moves to a 3A Division.

Robert Senseney has been named the new head football coach at West Johnston High.

Senseney boasts a 106-51 record as head coach at Burns High School, and is a three-time State Champion, most recently as head coach at Gretna High School in Virginia. Senseney was also named the 2013 Greater Neuse River Coach of the Year.

“Our football committee conducted a very thorough search, and all agreed that we found the right coach in Robert Senseney,” said Principal Dr. Paula Coates.

Senseney, who graduated from East Carolina University, began his coaching career at Terry Sanford High coaching the defensive line. He says his initial focus as head coach will be installing offense and defense, as well as, summer workout attendance.

“I am  excited about the opportunity to coach at West Johnston and to be part of the community,”  said Senseney. “I love teaching in Johnston County and being able to stay in the county as a head coach is a blessing.”
