CLAYTON – Interstate 40 near NC Highway 42 was closed for about an hour Monday afternoon as the result of a three vehicle accident. Westbound lanes were blocked and traffic backed up for several miles until the accident could be investigated and the vehicles towed away.
Minor injuries were reported in the crash.
The State Highway Patrol, Johnston County EMS, and Cleveland Fire Department responded.
