Willow Springs Man Killed In Motorcycle Crash

JOHNSTON COUNTY — A Willow Springs man was killed early Sunday morning in a single-vehicle motorcycle crash in Johnston County.

According to the N.C. State Highway Patrol, troopers were dispatched at approximately 3:29 a.m. May 31 to N.C. 50 near Mount Pleasant Road following a report of a motorcycle crash.

Investigators said Christopher Layman of Willow Springs was traveling south on N.C. 50 when his motorcycle ran off the right side of the roadway and struck a ditch. Layman was ejected from the motorcycle, which came to rest in the roadway.

Johnston County EMS personnel arrived before troopers and pronounced Layman dead at the scene.

The Highway Patrol said a preliminary investigation found no other vehicles were involved in the collision.

The crash remains under investigation.
