Wilson’s Mills Police Arrest Suspect In Sexual Exploitation Investigation

WILSON’S MILLS – Officers with the Wilson’s Mills Police Department arrested Adrian Hernandez, age 34, of Jones Court in Wilson’s Mills. Hernandez is charged with 10 felony counts of second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor.

Police Chief A.Z. Williams said after receiving a cyber-tip in October 2024 from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, the NC SBI Computer Crimes Unit (CCU) and the Wilson’s Mills Police Department initiated an investigation.

As the lead agency in the N.C. Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force, members of the SBI CCU worked with local police to obtain and execute search warrants for accounts and devices related to the file indicated in the cyber-tip.

In December 2024, officers of Wilson’s Mills Police Department and the SBI searched Hernandez’s home and seized several items of evidence. This led to the discovery of additional illegal files depicting child sexual abuse material.

Chief Williams said second-degree exploitation involves purchasing or receiving a visual representation of a minor child engaged in sexual activity.

Hernandez was arrested February 20 at his home without incident. He was confined in the Johnston County Detention Center under a $600,000 secured bond.
