Wind-Driven Fire Burns Shed Behind Clayton Home

CLAYTON – Dry, windy conditions fueled a fast-moving brush fire Sunday afternoon that destroyed a shed behind a home in a densely populated neighborhood.
The blaze occurred at 167 Glacier Point, off Vinson Road.
According to Johnston County Fire Marshal Travis Johnson, brush between two properties ignited for reasons still under investigation. The flames spread quickly, engulfing a nearby shed before firefighters could bring the fire under control.
Crews from the Wilson’s Mills, Clayton, and Smithfield Fire Departments responded, working together to extinguish the fire and keep it from spreading to other structures.
No injuries were reported.
