Straight-line winds followed by gusty thunderstorms blew across Johnston County Tuesday evening causing trees, power poles and electrical lines to fall. Outages were reported in the Selma, Micro, Kenly, and Clayton areas.
Power crews worked long into the night replacing poles and restringing the lines. Four poles carrying both 13,200 volt and 7,200 volt circuits were snapped off near the ground in front of Selma Middle School while others were dangerously leaning due to the sudden burst of high winds.
