Curtis Dean McLamb has been sworn in as Benson’s new District 2 Commissioner.
After receiving the majority vote over incumbent John Bonnerduring last week’s primary elections, McLamb took his oath Thursday night and joined the existing board.
Earlier this year, state officials made the decision to hold a new election during the March primaries following the discovery that in November 25 voters that should have received a ballot in District 2 were instead given a ballot for another precinct. And 12 voters mistakenly received a District 2 ballot when they should have voted in a different district. That was more than enough to change the outcome of the race decided by 7 votes – 85 to 78.
In the new election held last week, McLamb won by 50 votes, 178 to 128.
