A Smithfield woman has been arrested after she allegedly attempted to cash a stolen check. It happened last month at Four Oaks Bank and Trust in Four Oaks.
An alert bank employee declined to cash the $300 check. Authorities allege Crystal Gail Lee, 42, of Old Olive Road, Smithfield obtained the check without the permission of the victim.
Lee was charged with attempting uttering, a felony. She was given a $10,000 bond.
