Woman Hides Under Bed During Home Invasion

A Clayton woman survived a harrowing experience at her home Sunday night without any injury.

Around 11:00pm, the victim in her 40’s was at home alone watching a movie when she heard a noise outside. She went to investigate and saw a man standing in her yard.  Moments later she heard the sounds of her back door being kicked in.

The victim ran to her bedroom, crawled underneath her bed and hid just as two men made their way into her residence on Hawthorn Drive, off Cleveland Road near Cleveland Elementary School.

The victim said one of the men walked into her bedroom and didn’t notice her. When he exited her bedroom she used her cell phone to dial 911.  Moments later the man returned and noticed her underneath the bed.  He shouted out to the second suspect that someone was in the home. Both men then fled on foot.

Deputies said they recovered several pieces of evidence from the scene.

The victim reported some electronics and cash were stolen by the burglars.
