What would you do if a man armed with a gun approaches you in a parking lot and demands your money and car keys? That happened to a 68 year-old woman who had an amazing response. She prayed with the robber and then he simply walked away.
Around 4:00pm Sunday, the New Jersey woman was leaving the Sleep Inn & Suites on N. Equity Drive when Smithfield Police said she was approached by a man armed with a handgun. The robber told the victim he had a family emergency out of state and needed her money and keys to her car.
The victim refused to hand over her money but did offer to pray with the robber, which he accepted. After praying with the gunman, he left walking on foot. The woman was not harmed.
Smithfield Police are still investigating. No arrests have been made.
