SMITHFIELD – A woman operating a motorized scooter in the roadway was struck by a car. The incident happened Dec. 14 around 7:10pm on N. Brightleaf Boulevard near the entrance to Walmart.
Police said a 44 year-old woman was operating the scooter in the center turn lane when she was struck from behind by a Kia passenger car traveling at approximately 10 miles per hour.
The woman was transported to Wake Med for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the car was not injured.
No charges were filed by police.
