A 40 year-old man has been arrested for the robbery of a woman in the parking lot of Pine Needle Square on North Brightleaf Boulevard.
The victim, a 41 year-old Wayne County woman, said she was in the parking lot around 7:30pm Wednesday when a suspect assaulted her, grabbed her cell phone, then fled on foot. Police located the suspect running across the parking lot of Johnston Medical Center and took him into custody, according to Smithfield Police Captain R.K. Powell.
Letreon Lafayette Thomas of Harris Street, Smithfield is charged with common law robbery, habitual assault and damage to property. The victim was acquainted with the suspect.
