Woman Shot At Home While In Bed

A woman lying in bed in her home was struck by a bullet and injured.

The shooting was reported at 10:50pm Friday in the 100 block of Red Star Lane off Lee Road outside of Clayton.

Authorities said the 53 year-old woman was lying in bed when a bullet pierced the wall of her home, went through a mirror, then went through her arm. The bullet, which was still intact, was found in her bed.

The victim was rushed to the hospital for a non-life threatening gunshot wound to her arm.

Johnston County Sheriff’s Detective Lt. Don Pate told WTSB News on Monday the case remains under investigation and that detectives returned to the scene again today.  Officials do not believe the shooting was intentional, rather a stray bullet being fired.  The search continues for the person who fired the gun.
