CLAYTON – A shooting at a Clayton-area home is under investigation by Johnston County sheriff’s detectives. The incident happened around 9:30pm Tuesday in the 900 block of Government Road.
Investigators said three people were at their home when two black male suspects wearing masks and armed with a handgun and AK-style rifle approached. One suspect confronted a female on the front porch while the second suspect entered the home and began shooting towards a rear bedroom. A man inside the bedroom returned fire. Multiple shots were fired between the suspects and victim.
A 54 year-old woman on the front porch was shot in the leg. She sustained non-life threatening injuries and was transported to the hospital. The two other occupants in the home and the two suspects were reportedly not struck by the gunfire. The suspects fled before deputies arrived.
Detectives are continuing their investigation. A motive has not released.
