WILSON’S MILLS, N.C. – A woman and two children were involved in a single-vehicle crash Thursday afternoon on U.S. 70 as a strong thunderstorm moved through the area.

The SUV traveled into the median, damaging approximately 100 feet of guard cable before coming to a stop.

The cable barrier prevented the vehicle from continuing into the opposite travel lanes.

Debris from the crash was left scattered in the roadway, causing minor traffic delays until the scene could be cleared.

Johnston County EMS evaluated the driver and both juvenile passengers.

Wilson’s Mills Fire Department assisted with the response.

Wilson’s Mills Police and the North Carolina State Highway Patrol also responded to the mid-afternoon crash.

The exact cause of the accident was not immediately available.
