JOHNSTON COUNTY – The Boys & Girls Clubs of Johnston County recently held a series of art sessions led by local artist Percilla Williams at the Smithfield and Selma Club locations. The sessions allowed Club members to explore women’s history through art while learning to express their creativity and identity through painting.
Thanks to Grassroots Grants awarded by the Johnston County Arts Council and the North Carolina Arts Council, youth were allowed to participate in hands-on art instruction and cultural exploration. Under the expert guidance of Percilla Williams, each participant was encouraged to explore color, texture, and imagination in a supportive and inspiring environment.
“Our members were engaged, focused, and proud of their work,” said Lynn Stanley of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Johnston County. “We are grateful to Percilla Williams for sharing her passion and creativity with our youth. These sessions remind our members that their voices and visions matter.”
