Zebulon Man’s Morning Routine Wins Him A $100,000 Prize

A typical Monday morning stop for a coffee and a scratch-off turned very atypical for Dennis Pitt of Zebulon when he uncovered the first $100,000 prize in a new lottery game.

“It woke me up for sure,” he laughed.

Pitt said he scratched his ticket while he sipped his coffee.

“I just sat there looking at it,” he recalled. “Then I called my wife.”

Pitt purchased his lucky $20 Win Big ticket from the Eagles Express on Knightdale Boulevard in Knightdale.

“I like playing the new tickets when they come out,” Pitt said.

He collected his prize at lottery headquarters Monday and, after required state and federal tax withholdings, took home $71,506.

The Win Big game debuted this month with three $2 million top prizes and six $100,000 prizes. Three $2 million prizes and five $100,000 prizes remain to be claimed.
