A fire damaged dozens of vehicles at Insurance Auto Auction (IAA) late Wednesday night. The fire was reported at 11:25pm at the business at 60 Sadisco Road between Clayton and Wilson’s Mills.
An estimated 45 vehicles were burned in the fire out of approximately 10,000 salvaged cars on the lot.
Nine fire departments responded to the scene including a tanker task force, which helped shuttle water to firefighters putting out the blaze. It took several hours before the burning cars were fully extinguished.
The cause remains under investigation. There was lightning reported in the area minutes before the first 911 call was received reporting the fire.
No injuries were reported.
