Police Investigate Reported Sexual Assault
SMITHFIELD – Smithfield Police are investigating a reported sexual assault that allegedly occurred Saturday evening.
Authorities said the incident took place around 9 p.m. on Dec. 13 in a parking lot area on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.
Police reported that the female victim and the male suspect were acquaintances, and the incident was not considered random. No further details about the suspect or victim have been released.
The investigation is ongoing

Can you not share the identity of the accused like you guys do when an addict gets a possession or paraphernalia charge? Is a sexual predator or pedophile worse than someone using to escape from their pain? Sickening behavior on the reporters and the justice system!
One course of action to take is to surrender and give the pain to Jesus Christ. Wonder why this normally is not the course of action taken?
Why do you want to know the identity of someone who has NOT been convicted? An accusation means nothing. It sounds like you disagree with the bedrock concept of American jurisprudence: innocent until proven guilty.

Everyone defends these offenders! Funny how “innocent until proven guilty” applies to sex offenders, but all these posts are based majority of news, arrests, and filled with information of someone who has committed a crime and also (legally) “innocent until proven guilty” ….
the suspect’s name may not have been given out yet because it could jeopardize the investigation. Honestly not everyone has the right to know everything they think they have the right to know.
Ashley, I am of the opinion that the “sickening behavior” is yours. The system of jurisprudence in the USA is based on the concept of innocent until proven guilty. Your statements appear to allude to an assumption of guilt without proof. Why do you want to know the name of the accused if he or she has yet been determined to be guilty?
