A Zebulon woman badly injured in a June 20th accident in Johnston County died Saturday night, June 27th, at Wake Medical Center.
The collision that claimed the life of 40 year-old Jolene Aldridge Worley occurred at the intersection of Highway 42 and 96 outside of Selma.
Trooper T.L. Garner said Laurie Lynn Thibaudeau, 45, of Selma was traveling southbound on NC96 and had stopped for a stop sign. Thibaudeau then pulled into the path of a Honda traveling eastbound on NC42 and driven by Michael Anthony Vater, 47, of Clayton.
After the impact, Vater’s car ran off the roadway, trapping Worley, the passenger, inside the overturned Honda. Worley was extricated from the vehicle by emergency workers.
Vater was treated and released. Thibaudeau was not injured, the Highway Patrol said.
On Monday, Trooper Garner charged Thibaudeau with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle. Authorities said all three persons involved in the collision were wearing seat belts and alcohol did not play a factor.
