1 Killed, 2 Injured By Gunfire At Large Party

ANGIER – Three people were shot, one fatally, at a large party. Authorities have released the identities of the three victims and are continuing to search for the suspect or suspects.

The shooting happened around 1:47am Sunday, March 17 in the 200 block of Sundowner Lane near Angier. The Harnett County Sheriff’s Office said there was an on-going party with as many as 100 people in attendance.

Deputies found 19 year-old Ashanti Monk of Angier on the ground suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Minutes later, two other victims, 21 year-old Zaylen Dowd of Fuquay Varina and 19 year-old Chassidy McDougald of Dunn arrived at Central Harnett Hospital suffering from gunshot wounds. Both were treated for their injuries and released from the hospital on Tuesday.

Sheriff Wayne Coats said investigators are following up on several leads but at this time there are no known suspects. Anyone with information about the triple shooting is asked to contact the Harnett County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Division at 910-893-0140 or the Tip Line at 910-893-0300.
