WILLOW SPRING – One person was killed and two others injured in a two vehicle accident in western Johnston County. The collision was reported just before 2:00pm Wednesday on Landmark Road at Jackson Springs Road, the main entrance to the new Jackson Springs Subdivision.

The State Highway Patrol said a yellow work van was attempting to make a left turn from Landmark Road into the subdivision and pulled into the path of a large Ford truck pulling a trailer. Both vehicles came to rest off the roadway.

The driver of the van was ejected and died at the scene. His son, a juvenile, was the only passenger in the van. The juvenile sustained non-life threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital.

The driver of the Ford truck sustained minor injuries and was also transported by EMS to the hospital for treatment.

Highway Patrol Sgt. A.R. Fowler said the deceased driver of the van was not wearing a seat belt. He was a contractor doing work in the new subdivision. Speed and alcohol are not suspected.

Next of kin has been notified, however, the names of those involved was not released pending completion of an accident report.
