The Highway Patrol has released the name of a Johnston County man killed in a two vehicle accident Monday night on Highway 42 near Jerusalem Church Road.
Louis Brandon Howell, 25, of the 900 block of Whitley Road, Middlesex died in the 6:26pm accident.
Sergeant Michael Baker with the NC State Highway Patrol said a 2010 Dodge car, operated by Amanda Leigh-Ann Allen, 20, of Triston Court, Kenly was traveling eastbound on Highway 42. Ms. Allen traveled off the eastbound shoulder and overcorrected. She then traveled across the centerline and struck a 1981 Chevy pickup truck Howell was operating.
Howell died as a result of the collision. Allen and two passengers sustained serious but non-life threatening injuries.
Sgt. Baker said investigators are consulting with the Johnston County District Attorney’s office about possible charges. Troopers plan to release more information once the accident investigation is completed. Photos by John Payne
