SMITHFIELD – A lengthy undercover investigation that started in 2022 has led to the arrest of a Smithfield man.
Roderick Kornilius Ray, age 39, of W. Caroline Avenue, Smithfield was arrested on more than a dozen drug-related offenses. Those charges include the sell and delivery of cocaine, maintaining a vehicle or dwelling for a controlled substance, and possession with intent to sell or deliver a controlled substance.
Narcotic agents with the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office reportedly made multiple undercover cocaine purchases from Ray during the investigation.
In October 2020, Ray was shot and seriously wounded during a home invasion in Selma. Selma Police said Ray refused to cooperate with detectives and no arrest was ever made.
In August 2006, Ray was arrested by deputies during a traffic stop on Selma-Pine Level Road after cocaine was found hidden underneath the driver’s seat of his car. He was convicted in November of that year and served a brief prison sentence.
Ray was taken into custody on the latest charges on September 15 during a traffic stop. He remains in the Johnston County Detention Center under a $1 million secured bond.

For Gods sake, look at this guys record. He is a repeat offender over and over again. I would not care what color he was, he needs to be off the streets for good. I do agree that a child rapist should have the same bond and again it does not matter about his color.

We dont own airplanes boats..Like they said these lowlifes running around molesting and raping children and getting away with it..Regardless of u getting Mr Ray drugs are still be sold everyday..And i dont wish nothing bad on him…While u judging see if u cant stop them guys raping these innocent a** children then we an talk..He didnt make nobody buy or use no drugs!!!!!!!!!
