A one year-old child was in critical condition on Wednesday after being attacked by a pit bull. The incident happened inside a home on Old Pebble Lane, off Sunshine Road, outside of Kenly around 6:25pm Tuesday.
The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident and has not announced if any charges would be filed.
Sheriff’s office spokesperson Tammy Amaon said the pit bull was outside the home. When an adult family member opened the door to exit the residence, the pit bull ran inside and grabbed the 1 year-old girl.
EMS crews rushed the baby to Wake Medical Center where it remains hospitalized.
