The 13th Johnston County Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) Training Academy graduated eighteen participants in February.
CIT Training is based on the Memphis, Tennessee model that provides law enforcement and other first responders with 40 hours of additional training to respond to people in mental health crisis.
A total of 170 local first responders have received the vital training since the program began in 2011.
