Johnston County Public Schools has been awarded a $210,591 grant from the North Carolina Tobacco Trust Fund Commission. The funds will be used to construct a structure at South Johnston High School.
According to Deputy Superintendent Dr. Paul Coates, the structure will be utilized primarily for agricultural programs associated with the IDEAL Academy and FFA. Secondary uses include JROTC teams, academic and career classes, district competitions, and some community club events.
The grant award amount includes the costs of the structure and all pertinent equipment.
Dr. Coates said the building should be completed by December 2020.
