Three people were injured, one seriously, after two vehicles sideswiped one another on Vinson Road outside of Wilson’s Mills Saturday night.
A driver traveling westbound in a curve crossed the centerline and struck the side of an oncoming SUV. The impact was so violent it tore a rear wheel from the SUV.
The driver of the car was trapped in the vehicle until being extricated by the Wilson’s Mills Fire Department. A passenger in the car was uninjured.
Two teenagers in the SUV were treated at the scene by paramedics for injuries but declined transport by ambulance. Later, the driver of the SUV was transported by private vehicle to the hospital for medical care.
Charges are pending by the NC Highway Patrol.
