A 13 year-old girl was among 3 people injured after a vehicle ran off the roadway Tuesday morning and overturned.
The accident happened about a mile from the victims home.
Troopers said James Narron III had just picked up a family friend from Johnston Medical Center in Smithfield and was headed back to his home on Batten Pond Road was the Mazda SUV he was operating ran off Highway 39 North, struck a deep ditch and driveway culvert before overturning.
Narron and his 13 year-old daughter were taken by ambulance to Wake Medical Center in Raleigh. A third person, Timothy Cannon, was pinned in the overturned SUV. After being extricated by emergency crews he was airlifted by Duke Life Flight to Wake Medical Center.
Authorities said all the injuries were serious.
