A Christmas Eve home invasion and shooting left three people hospitalized. It happened at 11:37pm Monday at 107 Connie Walk in Dudley.
The Wayne County 911 Center received a call from a “panic stricken individual” who was able to alert authorities that multiple individuals had been shot inside the home.
Wayne County deputies and EMS arrived and found Curtis Lee Melvin, 37, Danny Ray Melvin, 41, and Tristan Bass, 28, all of Dudley suffering from gunshot wounds. All three were taken to Wayne UNC Healthcare for treatment. Curtis and Danny Melvin were later airlifted to Vidant Hospital in Greenville for additional medical care.
The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office said at least 3 people entered the home demanding money and then began shooting. There were other unnamed persons inside the home who were not injured who were able to be interviewed by detectives.
Authorities said the investigation into the triple shooting and the search for the suspects is still ongoing.
