Who would steal $80,000 worth of pork products? That’s the question local authorities are trying to answer after a refrigerated trailer loaded with 31,978 pounds of pork products was stolen in Johnston County. The trailer was discovered completely empty in Wilson County Monday morning.
The trailer, owned by C.R. England Trucking of Tar Heel, NC was dropped on Friday at Cloverleaf Cold Storage on Gilbert Road near Benson. On Saturday, an official with Cloverleaf noticed the $40,000 trailer and $80,000 in pork that had been loaded inside was missing and contacted the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office.
Sheriff’s Captain Jeff Caldwell said the trailer was located in Wilson County but the contents had been removed.
Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office at 919-989-5000.
