33-Year-Old Man Killed In Early Morning Johnston County Crash

JOHNSTON COUNTY, N.C. – A 33-year-old Willow Spring man was killed early Wednesday morning after his car ran off a western Johnston County road.

The single-vehicle crash was reported around 12:01 a.m. Aug. 12 in the 1200 block of Jackson King Road near Dupree Road, outside Angier.

According to the N.C. State Highway Patrol, a 1997 Lexus was traveling eastbound on Jackson King Road at a high rate of speed when the driver lost control while negotiating a curve.

The car ran off the right side of the roadway, struck a mailbox and several trees, then came to rest in the wood line.

The impact was severe enough to split the Lexus into two pieces.

The driver, identified as Nathan Lawrence Hudson, 33, of Willow Spring, was the only person in the vehicle. Troopers said he was wearing a seat belt.

Investigators determined excessive speed was a contributing factor in the crash.

According to the Highway Patrol, it is not yet known whether alcohol or drugs contributed to the crash. Toxicology results are pending.

The crash remains under investigation.
