A 59 year-old Clayton man is being charged after his inattention on the road caused a chain reaction accident that sent two people, including him, to Wake Med hospital.
Kane Krizay of Sugarpine Trail in Clayton said he lost focus before slamming into the back of a car on Amelia Church Road at 6:30pm Thursday, then swerving and hitting a second car head-on in the opposite lane of traffic. Krizay was sent to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the car he hit head-on was not transported.
The first car he hit from behind was stopped in a line of traffic waiting to turn on Farmington Drive. The woman driving that car was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. However, her car then slammed into the back of the car in front of her. The driver of that car was not injured.
Krizay is charged by Clayton Police with failure to reduce speed and crossing left of center.
