Four people were sent to the hospital with injuries following a two car accident shortly after 3:00pm Saturday.
Emergency workers responded to the collision at the intersection of Highway 42 and Highway 96 outside of Selma.
The Highway Patrol said a Buick traveling northbound on Highway 96 had stopped for a stop sign but pulled into the path of a Volvo traveling westbound on Highway 42.
Three people in the Buick and one person in the Volvo were transported by Johnston County EMS to Wake Medical Center for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
The intersection was ranked the 24th most dangerous intersection in Johnston County based on a September 2017 traffic study by the NC Department of Transportation at the request of WTSB Radio and JoCoReport.com
A total of 26 accidents have occurred at the intersection between 2013-2016.
The Thanksgiving Fire Department responded to the scene and assisted with traffic control.
