60-Year-Old Pedestrian Identified In Deadly Hit-And-Run

HARNETT COUNTY — The North Carolina State Highway Patrol is investigating a hit-and-run crash that left a 60-year-old pedestrian dead in Harnett County.

At about 10:49 a.m. Friday, a caller reported a person lying in a ditch in the 2800 block of Bunnlevel-Erwin Road. First responders arrived and found a man who appeared to have been deceased for several hours.

Harnett County sheriff’s deputies and state troopers responded after evidence at the scene indicated the man had been struck by a vehicle that fled.

The victim was identified as Bryan Swecker, 60, of Bunnlevel.

Authorities believe Swecker was hit sometime Thursday night or early Friday morning.

No additional information has been released as the investigation continues.
