$620,238 Bid Awarded For HVAC Equipment At Four Oaks Elementary

SMITHFIELD – HVAC improvements will be made at Four Oaks Elementary School. At their March meeting, the Johnston County Board of Education awarded a $620,238 bid to replace two air handlers on the back hallway at the school.

Dr. David Pearce, Assistant Superintendent, said the new air handlers will work with a future project to replace the majority of the HVAC equipment on the elementary school campus.

The school board will user ESSER funds to pay for the work.

  1. Complete rip off, like everywhere else in the hvac biz. In China air handlers are 1000usd each, and 4000usd wholesale here for 80k BTU. Might not last as long, but the Japanese ones are only 2x more in china. Maybe spend 100k on better windows and 100k on better insulation?
