An 80-year-old Benson woman was robbed in the driveway of her home.
According to police reports, officers were dispatched to an armed robbery call around 6 p.m. on Saturday, May 23rd along the 600 block of East Harnett Street. The woman, along with her daughter, told police the incident occurred when she was gathering items from the trunk of her car.
After popping the trunk open, two men approached her and “began to rob her” — taking her purse and dumping its contents onto the driveway. The men were also able to get a bracelet from her arm, the report detailed, before fleeing across the street into the Food Lion parking lot.
The woman’s stolen items were valued at more than $400, according to the incident reports.
The woman complained of arm pain to officers and was evaluated by EMS on scene. No weapons are listed on the report.
The two men were described as black males — one wearing a black shirt with medium-length braided hair, the other wearing a red shirt with short hair. Benson officers checked with several businesses in the area in hopes the two suspects were captured on security footage, but no image of the alleged robbers was discovered.
