GOLDSBORO – No charges will be filed against the driver of a car that struck an 86 year-old woman Thursday night after she ran into the roadway while chasing her dog. Goldsboro Police said the accident happened just after 7:00pm in the 1900 block of N. Berkeley Boulevard.
Renate Snider Brasington was running across N. Berkeley Boulevard chasing her dog when she was struck by a vehicle traveling southbound. The driver attempted to avoid the collision but still struck the elderly woman. The driver stopped at the scene and rendered aid to the victim until EMS and police arrived.
Ms. Brasington was transported to UNC Health Wayne for treatment. She is expected to recover from her injuries.
Police said no charges will be filed. The dog involved was secured and had no injuries.
